VOYAGER AI High Speed Autonomy Trials In Stiletto Program

Robosys Automation’s VOYAGER AI software has successfully completed a series of autonomous navigation and collision avoidance trials as part of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) Joint Prototyping and Experimentation Maritime (JPEM) Stiletto Program.

The trials were conducted aboard the 88.6ft (27m) M80 Stiletto vessel in the challenging operational environment of the Chesapeake Bay and Cape Henry Channel. These waters are among the busiest and most restricted maritime areas in the United States, providing a realistic and demanding test environment for autonomous navigation technologies.

During the programme, VOYAGER AI‘s COLREGs-compliant Collision Avoidance and Autonomous Navigation System algorithms were evaluated across a range of complex vessel interactions at speeds of up to 35 knots. The system successfully demonstrated compliance with key International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs), including Rule 13 (Overtaking), Rule 14 (Head-On Situations), Rule 15 (Crossing Situations) and Rule 17 (Stand-On Vessel Responsibilities).

These successful demonstrations further validate the maturity and robustness of VOYAGER AI’s autonomous decision-making capabilities. Designed to provide assured, explainable and operationally relevant autonomy, the system continuously assesses vessel traffic, navigational constraints and collision risks before generating safe and compliant manoeuvring advice.

For defense operators, autonomous navigation systems must perform reliably in dynamic, congested and mission-critical environments. The Stiletto trials provided an important opportunity to demonstrate VOYAGER AI’s ability to support safe navigation while operating at high speed and in complex maritime traffic conditions.

The successful completion of the JPEM Stiletto testing programme represents another significant milestone in Robosys Automation‘s mission to deliver trusted maritime autonomy solutions for defense and security applications, helping customers accelerate the deployment of next-generation autonomous capabilities with confidence.
