Award-Winning Robosys Achieves International Global Recognition

Robosys has enjoyed incredible aspects of recognition for its pioneering maritime autonomy and smart-shipping solutions during this past year, together with being nominated for several significant awards.

IRS DEGREE 4 MARITIME AUTONOMY CERTIFICATION TO COLREGS

Firstly, following extensive trials in collaboration with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd, Robosys’ software development sister company, Robosys Automation & Robotics Pvt. Ltd, was delighted to receive certification from the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) for its Autonomous System with dual navigation capability following trials on board a 30-metre tug operating in a busy harbour environment.

The IRS rigorously tested the Autonomous Navigation System software which was developed by Robosys Automation and Robotics Pvt. Ltd through simulation, as per approved Factory Acceptance Test procedure. The autonomous configuration also included a Remote Operations Centre (ROC), which was specifically designed to control and or also monitor the vessel from a remote location.

The trials were undertaken in India’s busy Mumbai Harbour and featured the remote control of propulsion and steering systems from the ROC, as well as the monitoring of key machinery, navigation parameters, and situational awareness system at the ROC were also verified as part of the extensive harbour trials.

The trials successfully demonstrated collision avoidance in accordance with the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREG), alongside various emergency response measures such as handling the loss of primary controls and communication with the ROC.

The certification was achieved through a thorough review of the autonomy concept, system documentation, software quality documentation and a detailed risk assessment in accordance with the IRS Guidelines for Remotely Operated Vessels and Autonomous Surface Vessels. Read the press release here.
