A Landmark Year for Robosys Automation and VOYAGER AI
Robosys Automation was delighted to welcome many new customers in 2024, including ACUA Ocean, Uncrewed Survey Solutions and Legacy Marine, amongst others.
Uncrewed Survey Solutions (USS) commissioned Robosys’ VOYAGER for its new Accession class USVs, to further enhance its market-leading global marine surveying operations. The USS Accession class vessel is a pioneering USV for offshore Beyond Line of Sight (BLoS) operations, and features Robosys’ VOYAGER AI SURVEY solution.
VOYAGER AI SURVEY delivers Remote Control and Autonomous Navigation with Autonomous Collision Avoidance, Obstacle Avoidance, combined with Anti-Grounding features enabled by integration of S-57 ENC charts.
Specifically designed for the marine survey sector, it also boasts a software Autopilot with Widget control, Heading & Track Control, and Route(s) & Waypoint(s) Planning & Following, with Approach, Harbour and Tidal modes.
The integration also sees over 200 PLC channels integrated in to the single, integrated, VOYAGER AI User Interface.
Also this year, Robosys and the ocean monitoring and protection innovator and unmanned craft specialist, ACUA Ocean announced securing a contract to integrate VOYAGER AI with ACUA Ocean’s Pioneer-class H-USVs.
Currently undergoing sea trials, the H-USV features a Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) design for seakeeping and manoeuvrability, combined with a unique hydrogen-electric hybrid powertrain.
The 14.2m H-USV features a Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) design for seakeeping and manoeuvrability, combined with a unique hydrogen-electric hybrid powertrain.
The ACUA Ocean Pioneer-class USV accommodates modular sensor and system payloads of up to 6.5 tonnes from its 20 ft (6 m) ISO-standard-footprint moonpool, with up to 40 days of endurance, meaning increased operational time on site and data collection, combined with Robosys’ navigational and platform controls, plus supported decision aids; for precise USV monitoring and protection to oceanic operations.
In addition to numerous undisclosed customers, a particular highlight was when Robosys Automation secured a significant contract to supply VOYAGER AI to a fleet of Advanced Swimmer Delivery Vehicles (ASDVs), featuring a Robosys’ new subsea vessel control solution for underwater personnel transit.
The internationally-based ASDVs will safely and comfortably enable dive units to be transported to and from remote and challenging locations and operate in three modes being surface, semi-submerged and submerged.
Robosys was also awarded the contract with South Africa’s Legacy Marine for the supply and integration of an AI-supported maritime autonomy system.
Robosys’ VOYAGER AI software will provide the onboard navigation, visual and autonomous control of the USV at various levels of autonomy. to support the first of a fleet of fully autonomous 9.5m aluminium USVs, which was designed by Icarus Marine.
